From late April right the way through to mid September these little upwing flies make an appearance, they hatch out steadily throughout the day then migrate on mass in the evening to dispense their egg sack above a broken section of water, riffles or weirs are a perfect place. The spent flies are then carried downstream causing a spectacular evening rise, the Lunns Particular was designed by Houghton club keeper William Lunn over 100 years ago and is still fooling fish to this day!
