The perfect fly for mid-late April, Hawthorn larvae are not actually found in the river, they hatch from the ground. Often seen on mass bumbling along hedgerows and over branches, once blown onto the water become an irresistible meal for a Trout. Female Hawthorn are slightly larger than the male hence the two sizes…….not that the Trout care!
